Those who perpetrated this atrocity must be identified and held to account, and the United States will work with the international community to intensify our pressure on Assad and his cronies, whose rule by murder and fear must come to an end.

a little more on “What Makes a Baby” - teaching children where babies come from

from the author, cory silverberg:

“…the first part and the last part of the book tell kids what we all need to make a baby. We talk about sperm, egg, and uterus without gendering either them or the bodies they reside in or come from.  We do it without saying that you need a mommy and daddy, or even two people who know each other, and we make it very clear that there are many ways these elements can come together.  The illustrations won’t ruin it by tokenizing or stereotyping what families look like. In fact they make it clear that all families are possible and they can all be beautiful. “

[emphasis mine]

not that i’m trying to push this book on anyone…but i’m just so impressed with this concept. it truly does seem like a revelation in parenting and teaching children where babies come from, and doing it in a way that doesn’t erase anyone’s experience or stick them in a constricting, socially constructed box.

every child should feel represented in the literature, especially literature that’s developed with them in mind. moreover, parents of children should likewise feel that their experiences are reflected in the stories they choose to read to their children.

Anonymous asked: Which one you prefer between Loki and Iron man?

OMG That’s hard, I like them both a lot. I choose Tony, but Loki isn’t far behind, I like him too.
